Another quick WI drop by

I know that I owe you a real post, but time does not allow it these days.  I did have a rough week, followed by an unusual comfort eating weekend, but I managed to lose a pound in all that mess.  Down another 1 lb, and not looking back.  I may not be perfect, but I am making better choices, and improving my lifestyle.  Slowly but surely I will get to my goal.  In the mean time, I just do my best and strive to find a little extra energy at the end of the day to get my exercise in.

Hope you are all doing well!

Weekend Ramblings

Let the weekend ramblings begin....

First of all, I am unofficially down a pound since last week.  I am feeling much better and am ready to start exercising again.  Tomorrow... family walk.  If that goes well, maybe a Leslie Sansone DVD that night.  PS - Thank you very much for your well wishes.  :)

I haven't been sleeping well again.  I am up at 3am watching  a Nurse Jackie marathon if that says anything.  Not just this week because I have been sick, but even before.  I have a lot on my mind.  I am going to try taking a hot shower before bed to see if it relaxes me and allows me to get to sleep at a decent hour.  I thought the exercising would help, but I didn't see much of a difference.

Once Holly took a nap I went on an organizing and cleaning spree.  I have thrown out, set up donation boxes and took inventory of what we have in my household stock closet.  It felt pretty good to be rid of some more clutter.

Have I told you that my husband has decided to have gastric bypass surgery?   He had his appointment on Friday and is starting the approval process and wait period (our insurance requires).  He is really excited about it and I am happy for him.  He got a Dummies book for life after gastric bypass.  We have been reading from it this weekend.  I think we will have a healthy competition for weight loss.  I am sure he will win when it comes to numbers and how quickly, but we all need a good competition every now and then. Besides finally having him in the trenches for good is a huge help.  He is very supportive of me, but also my #1 enabler.  (As I am his.)  I am having a good feeling about all this.

Take Care!

sicky poo

I woke up on Wednesday officially sick.  I had been fighting a cold for several weeks, and I thought I had finally out run the little stinker, but my husband got sick last weekend and apparently infected us all.  Now, my husband is back at work and feeling better and my daughter, my mother and I are home dying together.

I haven't been able to work out since I got sick, and trying to get rest instead.  I haven't been tracking either, which is a no, no, but I know I was going over calories just based on the orange juice consumption alone.  I am one of those sickies who drink a gallon of OJ after they get sick.  I guess if I was drinking it all along, I wouldn't be in this predicament.

I also noticed that I crave comfort food and snacks more than ever when I am sick.  Especially ice cream, puddings, etc. since they are creamy and don't irritate my sore throat.  I have had a portion controlled bit of those things and they haven't been meal replacements, thank goodness!  I am still portioning out my foods, and have been drinking a ton of water, herb tea with honey, etc.

I still weigh in everyday and my weight as of today is 330.9.  So at least I am not going up, without the exercise.  I actually miss moving my body around and look forward to getting back to business.

Hope you are all well and taking your vitamins!

Friday and Saturday Stats

Thought I would forget, did you?!  Ha, no way!  This weekend hasn't been perfect, but I still tracked, had goals, and showed a calorie deficit, even it it was small!

Calories have been on the high side and over my daily allotment.  Not unreasonably, but still over.  I am not in anyway beating myself up over my food choices.  I told myself from the start that I an not depriving myself, but it has to fit into my regular calorie allotment.  I have been good about planning those periodic indulgences in advance or have them early enough in the day so I can make adjustments for it later, but this weekend I went into two meal times blind and guessed on the calories until I could get home and enter into the system.

Once I realized I came in a little over on calories, I vowed to up my exercise and calorie burn to work it off.  I didn't exercise on Friday, just a grueling day at work and I needed a break (and some sleep).  On Saturday, I set a goal to burn 4,000 calories.   I came just shy of that goal and couldn't be more proud of myself.  In fact, I am going to set another 4,000 calorie goal for Sunday too.

Un-Official Weigh In:  331
Calories consumed:  2161
Calories burned:  2500 (No Bodybugg to measure, so I am guessing)
Exercise:  None
Steps:  7500 (guessing)
Water:  64oz
Fruits and veggies:  2 (yikes, getting worse).
Diet Soda: 0

Un-Official Weigh In:  331.5
Calories consumed:  2212
Calories burned:  3896
Exercise:  Leslie Sansone 3 Mile Walk Express (burned 648 calories)
Steps:  8,559
Water:  64oz
Fruits and veggies:   0 (ewww!) servings total.
Diet Soda: 2  (I caved!)

I hope you are all having a happy and healthy weekend!

Day 3 - Keepin' On Keepin' On

I am pleased to report another good day.  I have been keeping it simple and was successful at adjusting my meal plans when some unexpected surprises came up.

It was my big bosses b-day and they had two types of cake.  I still feel weird if I don't participate in the eating of the cake because I don't want to get into a conversation in front of everyone about me trying to diet, or losing weight.  So, I decided to take what I thought would be the lesser in calories.  (I chose the cheesecake because Heidi recently told me in her Eat This, Not That book cheesecake is usually lower in calories than cake because of the frosting.)  I ate the cheesecake and immediately went to track the calories.  Because it was very high in calories, I adjusted my lunch and dinner and skipped my afternoon snack.  After Slimmons, my friends and I wanted to go and grab some dinner and catch up with each other.  2 of them wanted to go to a place where I knew I couldn't find anything that would fit into my remaining calorie range.  Instead, our little group split up and 2 of us went to Soup Plantation, where I could easily eat a meal within my available calorie bank.  NSV for me!

A quick glance at today's stats:
Un-Official Weigh In:  334.7 (Down from yesterday, but not official WI, so I won't get excited just yet.)
Calories consumed:  1758  (I came in under my max calorie budget for dinner.  NSV 2!!  )
Calories burned:  3394  (That give me a 1636 calorie deficit.)
Exercise:  Slimmons  (Burned 770 calories tonight!.)
Steps:  8,200  (My goal is 10k daily, so I have some work to do on that one.)
Water:  80 oz  (A little less than the past two days, but still more than the required 64oz)
Fruits and veggies:  5 servings total.  (Getting better, but not where I want to be daily yet.)
Diet Soda: 0  (Yay me!  No cravings for soda today, but I have been feeling foggy and tired without it.  Also, have had terrible headaches everyday.)

Cheers to another good day.  I hope you are all doing well too!

Day 2 Stats

I had another great day on program.  My stats are a little screwy because unknown to me my Bodybugg wasn't fully charged and my battery died half way through the day.  I am just going to assume 3,000 calories burned and 5,000 steps because I was pretty sedentary all day with the exception of our evening walk.

Un-Official Weigh In:  337.2
Calories consumed:  1695  (I am trying to stay between 1600 - 1900)
Calories burned:  3000  (A guess, as Bodybugg died in the middle of the day.)  That give me a 1305 calorie deficit.)
Exercise:  Neighborhood walk  (38 Minutes, 1.7 miles and I was sweating and hurting after.  Still store from Slimmons the night before.)
Steps:  5,000  (My goal is 10k daily, so I have some work to do on that one.)
Water:  96 oz
Fruits and veggies:  Only got in about 2 servings total.  (No wonder I haven't been losing any weight the past two years.  I really thought I was eating more veggies and obviously not.  Still working on that goal this week.)
Diet Soda: 0  (Yay me!  I really wanted one but didn't give in.)

Again, another easy day.  I am still feeling motivated and capable of sticking to this routine.  I have Slimmons again tonight.  Hopefully my body will let me keep up.  I am exhausted!

I hope everyone has a great day!

A+ Day!

What a wonderful day!  I was focused, stayed on track with relative ease, completed my tasks and almost made all my daily goals.  Here is a quick look at my stats:

Official Weigh In:  337 (Ouch!  I haven't seen that number in over a year.)
Calories consumed:  1601  (I am trying to stay between 1600 - 1900)
Calories burned:  3596  (Yes!!!  That gives me a 1995 calorie deficit.)
Exercise:  Slimmons (burned 736 calories while I was there)
Steps:  8502  (My goal is 10k daily, so I have some work to do on that one.)
Water:  96 oz
Fruits and veggies:  Only got in about 4 servings total.  (Another thing to work on this week.)
Diet Soda:  1

I am going to strive to update these stats each day.  Yes, I do plan on weighing myself each day for now.  Not sure how long I will last doing so, but am thinking it might help my motivation and also to understand how my body reacts to certain foods, sodium levels, etc.  It is an experiment for now.  If it gets to be too much, or effects moods, etc. I will stop.

I found it pretty easy to drink the water today and am trying to dump the soda habit.  I did have one Diet Pepsi at dinner, but that was only because they didn't have an iced tea and I needed something other than water.  (I was watered out by that time.)

I hope tomorrow is just as successful.

A New Year... A New Promise To Myself

Yes, I am back again.  New year, same resolutions.  Staying true to form, I am going to make a grand declaration of how I am re-committing myself to a healthy lifestyle.  I am going to reinforce that I want to see significant changes with my body by my birthday 12/12/12.

While my overall goal is to still lose 135 lbs by 12/12/12, I am pretty sure that is unrealistic considering the time line, but not impossible.  I will not be focusing on that number however.  I am going to break it down into mini goals, with the first one being 10% of my body weight.

How will I do this?
  • My WI will be Tuesdays.  (Starting tomorrow January 3, 2012)
  • I will be going back to Slimmons 3 days per week (I was at my best in 2011 when I was going all three days)
  • Off Slimmons days I will be walking or working out at home with one of my many dvd's or hitting the gym at work.
  • I am going to log my food in sparkpeople and increase my fiber.
  • I am going to wear my bodybugg and make sure I make my 10,000 steps and hit my calorie burn for the day.
It seems so simple, but was really hard for me last year.  I am going to learn from my mistakes in 2011, and really navigate this plan the right way.  I have all the tools, I have support, I just need to have my act together enough to implement.  I can do this.  I want to do this.  I need to do this!

Thanks for sticking by me this past year.  I know you must be sick of my I am going to do it posts, and then my follow up I am failing posts, but I have a feeling this year will be different.  Thanks for your continued support and motivation.
